ARTRECH PROJECT

AI HOKUSAI is an ArtTech Research Project that, inspired by the methodology proposed in the 19th century by the Japanese artist and art educator Hokusai, invites international artists working in various media to experiment with artificial intelligence.

The project takes place online in the form of a residency/laboratory. During 3 months, it will combine an
intensive internal program of applied workshops forselected artists, with an open public program that includes discussions and masterclasses.

While the artists explore generative AI tools to create artworks for a final exhibition, the organizers will conduct a research study, by observing and analyzing the process from cultural, technological, anthropological and philosophical points of view.

The results will be published in a research paper which brings together the experience of artists, experts and organizers to produce a deeper understanding of the role of artificial intelligence in the context of art, culture, and human heritage.

SASHA THE BLACK

The son is howling. Beaten for a D-plus, The wife took the last ruble for her curls, The husband, slain by his shop and a cold, Calculates the monthly loss... The maid is in hysterics—she's been fired, The cat, in the corner, is gnawing a bone... Suddenly, the door bursts open, inspired, A poet enters with a joyous groan:

"I've brought you a song! In it, the sun shines, The azure sea gleams, the cypress trees sway... A maiden sings of love divine, And the gentle breeze carries her song away..."

The cat meows: "He's out of his mind..." And the poet, saddened, leaves the scene, Muttering under his breath: "Swine, Uncultured swine..."

TWO TRACTOR DRIVERS

Widely flutters the misty field, Ravens descend from the mountains. And two tractor drivers, having drunk their fill of beer, Go to rest on the hill. One cherishes Jean-Paul Sartre in his pocket, And is proud of this consciousness; The other sometimes plays on the accordion Santana and "Weather Report".

One believes that art is real, The other - that only death is real. But both agree that everything That's around and now is banal.
They say that fate is chance, That there's not enough vodka for everyone, That life is short, like a parachute jump, And that nothing ever happens.
